EdPrax Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct is binding on everyone who uses EdPrax. By creating an account or participating, you agree to it.

Purpose

EdPrax exists to be a useful, honest, low-pressure space where educators help educators. This Code of Conduct sets the floor for participation. It is not an aspiration; it is the minimum.

Who this applies to

Every account, every post, every comment, every endorsement, every flag — whether identified or pseudonymous. The pseudonymity feature is for safety in vulnerable conversations, not exemption from this Code.

The student-free zone

EdPrax is a student-free zone. Specifically:

  • No identifying information about students (names, photos, identifying anecdotes that could narrow to a specific child).
  • No descriptions of individual student behaviour, incidents, medical or psychological matters in a way that could identify the student to anyone who knows them.
  • No images, work samples, recordings, or written work of identifiable students.
  • Generalised conversation about pedagogy, behaviour patterns, classroom dynamics, etc. is fine. Specific students are not.

This is not negotiable. Posts and comments that violate the student-free zone will be removed and may result in account suspension. We err on the side of caution.

What you can do

  • Ask honest questions, including questions about your own practice you wouldn't ask in a staff meeting.
  • Share what's working, what isn't, and what you're trying.
  • Offer help in your area of practice. Endorse content that helped you.
  • Adapt and remix resources others have shared (per the licence the author chose).
  • Disagree with substance. Push on ideas, not on people.
  • Use the pseudonymity feature when it's appropriate. Build pseudonymous reputation.

What you must not do

  • Identify or describe specific students (see above).
  • Harass, threaten, demean, or stalk any member.
  • Post discriminatory content (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, religious hatred, etc.).
  • Dox another member (real-name them, locate them, contact their employer, etc.) — including a pseudonymous member.
  • Use the platform to recruit, sell to, or market against members.
  • Use pseudonymity to evade consequences of identified-account behaviour.
  • Misrepresent your role or affiliation to gain credibility.
  • Use AI to fabricate content as if it were your own practice. (AI-assisted writing is fine if you actually understand and stand behind what you post.)

Moderation

  • Any member can flag content with a reason.
  • Flag weight is informed by the flagger's existing tier in the topic, to make community-driven moderation resistant to brigading.
  • Content reaching the auto-hide threshold is hidden pending mod review. The author can see and edit it; everyone else sees a stub.
  • CoP moderators handle CoP-level violations. The platform admin handles platform-level violations and pseudonym unmasking.
  • All moderation actions are logged. Aggregate statistics are public on the transparency page.

Pseudonym unmasking

Pseudonyms can only be unmasked by the platform admin, and only in documented serious cases (credible harm, doxing, repeated CoC violations under pseudonym). When this happens:

  • The decision is logged with a written justification.
  • The action is shown on the public transparency page (anonymised).
  • The affected member is notified.

Pseudonymity is intentional safety — it is not a fig leaf for harmful behaviour, but the bar for unmasking is high and the process is documented.

Reporting

If you see something that concerns you:

  • Within a CoP: flag the content using the flag button.
  • Cross-cutting: email conduct@edprax.com.
  • In an emergency (immediate threat to a person, illegal content): report to the appropriate authorities first. Then let us know.

Consequences

Depending on severity and pattern:

  • Content removal
  • Warning (recorded)
  • Temporary suspension
  • Permanent ban
  • Pseudonym revocation
  • Report to relevant authorities (for illegal content)

Decisions are appealable to a different moderator than the one who acted.
